I aspire to improve my relationship with technology, release my seemingly innate resistance to it, and stop longing for the days of parchment paper letters written in calligraphy with a fountain pen. Well, maybe not quite, but the writer in me once couldn’t capture a single word without the ritual of writing it down on paper. And now, in 2022 (which still sounds like we’re from the future!), we use our phones and computers for nearly everything. I write books, blogs, newsletters, copy, silly articles (ahem), ads, businessey-stuff, and so forth… all on this little machine with a keyboard. It is truly fascinating, and I’m the newest fan.

I hosted a Facebook “live” last Spring that had significant technical snafus. Facebook wouldn’t grant me access to enter my own live! Talk about a shitstorm… Don’t ask- I still have no idea what happened or how to avoid it in the future. The other day, a friend invited me to join her Instagram live …and low and behold, it wouldn’t let me in… again… and she had to end it and start it over again. Ha! It was still fun, and what I have learned is I just can’t get upset about it; I just have to go with the flow. And it worked… eventually.

I could easily get upset [and sabotage] further attempts at these silly live things (like it isn’t nerve-wracking enough, right!?!), but no…  I am going to keep trying until I get it. Stubborn has its advantages. The whole world is evolving right along with us, whether we are “on board” or not. So, I surrender! Life is a game, and we don’t have to take all this shit so seriously. Seriously!

But what I really want to share is how grateful I am for all this technology. Especially after 2020, it literally saved us all from starving to death from lack of human connection. I have been a part of a writing group since February 2021, and we are publishing a book about our healing stories from Peru this December. We meet on zoom weekly. This community of women has been such an incredible experience! We have witnessed and supported each other through joy, depression, illness, pregnancy, deaths, relationship traumas, and all the infinite, remarkable goings-on in the lives of eleven powerful medicine women.

Our community has expanded even more now that we have signed a contract with Red Thread Publishing Company. This larger writing community has so much to give to the world! I have met some wonderful new friends that have volunteered to be “beta readers,” check each other’s website copy, and others that have invited me to beta test their online course. And today, I was patiently guided through a successful Instagram live by a new friend I met in the group. I am so grateful for the technology that allows me to connect with these inspiring women that are so dedicated to sharing their divine, unique messages with the world.
