I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about what it means to make a commitment.  The accomplishments that have meant the most to me, are those that I consciously decided to make a commitment to, and then moved forward without considering failure as a possibility. There was no doubt in my mind, I was fully committed.

Now, for an experiment, I am inviting you to think of a major accomplishment in your life… something that really made you proud of yourself.   Do you remember the commitment you made when you began?  When we just want something, it is one thing …meh… and then, there is actually making a commitment.  Was it just dumb luck you achieved what you did? Or, was it deciding to make a commitment to yourself and accepting nothing less? The difference is stark.

When we examine those who have achieved success, the dominant characteristic is the resolve to succeed.  Commitments are powerful because they affect how you respond to life, no matter what is happening around you.  You work harder to succeed and look for ways around the inevitable obstacles, and you never see quitting as an option in your mind.

The first important step is the decision to make a commitment.  When you make a decision to commit to yourself (as opposed to think it over, consternate, sit on the fence, mull it over, etc.), the Universe responds immediately, and things begin to shift.  The Universe literally wants you to succeed and helps you create your ideal reality.  A commitment produces creative energy and gives it a direction in which to go.  I don’t know about you, but that makes me feel a whole lot better!

It doesn’t matter if it is your career, a personal health goal, a relationship, or any other desire, the lure of quitting (and just being done with it!), seems to be always lurking in the background… especially on the tough days.  The solution is to anticipate this phenomenon and make an agreement with yourself that you will not give up on your commitment.  Energy follows a commitment.  Resistance and lethargy diminish when a commitment to something for your highest good has been made in earnest.

“Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative or creation, there is one elementary truth…that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man would have believed would have come his way. Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it.”

I ask you to think about this; What is something you want more than anything to accomplish? Are you ready to decide to make a commitment to yourself?

Well, guess what!?!?  I am creating a sacred space for a powerful community of women to come together to be completely supported in this magical journey called life.  Could you use some guidance bringing your dreams and desires into your life?  When we, as a group, share our decision to commit to ourselves, we are more compassionate, trusting, and successful in all our endeavors.
