The annual MOUNTAINS-TO-SEA TRAIL Gathering of Friends was held in Elkin, N.C. this past weekend.  What a fun weekend we all had!  Meeting all the hikers that finished the trail in 2017, the dedicated trail builders and maintainers, and the staff and board members of the MST organization was totally inspiring!

The Gathering is a wonderful group of people dedicated to an admirable cause…completing and improving a footpath across the entire state of North Carolina.  The path as it is now, is just under 1200 miles and stretches from Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smokies to Jockeys Ridge in the Outer Banks.

The trail is less complete in the coastal area but we are hopeful this will change soon.  Here is a map of the completed sections as well as the sections still on road.  (Close-up above, complete coastal plain below)

THANK YOU to all the dedicated people working so hard to make this trail a reality!!

Let’s go hike!!!
