I have wanted a sewing machine for as long as I can remember. And apparently, I have been collecting fabric and material and storing them in numerous bins for years. Every time I moved, I would schlep these heavy bins of “who only knows what is in these!” to my new space, and wonder… “What am I supposed to do with all this stuff?” And just like that, one day my sweet man bought me the sewing machine I have been so desiring for what seems like forever. And, I have been sewing nearly nonstop since. AND I have never had so much fun with my art ever in my life.
Ever since I owned a hiking and backpacking shop in the early 2000s, I have been completely dissatisfied with women’s clothing. We need POCKETS too, ya know. Why do I have to be wearing some kind of beige or army green cargo pants to have decent pockets on my clothing???? Well, I think not.
I am happy to introduce WILDWOODWEAR, my line of fully functional wild woman goddess dancing skirts. Most of my designs have somewhere between 5 and 9 pockets, some as decorative accents, and most have secret pockets hidden in an underskirt! I never carry my purse anywhere anymore. All the versions I made for myself easily hold my wallet, phone, keys, lip balm, and who knows what else…all in a creatively balanced and beautiful skirt. I use new and gently upcycled materials … each one is unique and inspired by the texture, feel, and color of the fabric itself. Each one is completely one-of-a-kind and made from pure creative love and inspiration.
I am now working on a line of hiking and traveling clothing that will represent the beauty and functionality in clothing that we deserve! Stay tuned!
