Mom and I always have a wonderful time up in Boone together.  We usually go hike the Boone Fork Trail/Mountain to Sea Trail in Julian Price Park.  It might be my favorite trail in the whole world!  Big rocks, big water, lush beautiful trees and plenty of wildlife.  It has something for everyone… including a HUGE black rat snake that slithered up the root system of a tree with not a care in the world.
