Well, here we are… another “New Year,” a “brand-new beginning,” a “clean slate”…and, of course, we are grateful to be here!  But… “The New Year” (insert dramatic music here), and all the expectations and pressure, and God only knows what can fill our minds with so much stress and anxiety!  I love a “new beginning” as much as the next person, and I am notorious for planning grand New Year’s “Resolutions” that, like many people, get forgotten entirely in a matter of days.  It would probably be sooner, but I am ambitious and super handy with a bold Sharpie and a brand-new, shiny calendar!

So, this year, I am going to, first of all, take it easy on myself.  I have decided my Resolution is to merely be happy.  Now there’s a novel idea!  I love to make plans and set goals, but I will begin with the things that make me the most joyful.  This, of course, is going for a walk in the woods.  Of course, this is an easy resolution for me because I have already made it a habit.

I walk every day because, well, it’s the cheapest therapy around and lots of other reasons, too. Lol.  My favorite self-quote is, “There is nothing I can’t make better by taking a walk!”  But, many of you are not in the habit of taking a walk every day, and you’re missing out on all this great fun.  And, I would like to change that and inspire you to consider it!

I have written “A Beginners Guide to Transforming Your Life by Simply Taking a Walk,” which is a detailed, free instant download on my website about gaining self-empowerment through Walking as a Sacred Practice.  (www.WildWoodMagic.com) In this guide, I discuss adding a Sacred Practice to your life in what I call a “40-day Practice.” It is simply making a commitment to yourself to practice something (wholeheartedly and enthusiastically!), for the amount of time you set, for personal growth, health, or whatever your motivation may be.  It can truly change your life for the better!

So, forget all that nonsense about “New Year’s Resolutions,” and just invite a new positive habit to enter your life, you know, low-pressure-style.  You don’t have to start January 1st, but please know, whenever you consider committing to a new personal happiness ritual, my loving support is always with you.  Please feel free to share this with others and let me know if you would like any guidance in adding a new practice to your life.

Cheerio!
