What Readers say
I like to walk but I can find a million excuses not to do it, but this book has inspired me to walk with a whole new perspective. With all the stresses of life and the past year I have been trying to maintain some level of normalcy and health but it's been difficult. I'm trying to learn meditation which has not been easy. The book explains how walking can be meditation in the simplest form without much effort other than to put on my shoes and go! This perspective has opened a door for me to see walking in a whole new way, which is to find magic and be in the moment, rather than a chore where I have to bundle up and just see it as exercise. I believe in the magic all around us if we are open to it, meaning just open your sense to whatever is out there! What better way to find it than to go for a walk. And all the benefits that are explained in the book as to how it allows the energy and creativity to flow. It all makes sense to me. I am really grateful for the inspiration this book has given me! It is a must read for anyone looking for any kind of improvement to their health and physical, emotional, and spiritual well being!

Let the path, the road, or trail carry you to your destiny with every step. Own it." Collin's words perfectly describe my feelings while walking in the woods. She captures the majesty that can captivate one's being and sense of adventure. This book makes me long to get back on the trails. I have learned so much from this lady and her wonderful story.

Some books get skimmed through once and get lost on a shelf. Wildwood Magic and its message of using the most natural and simplest of movements to love myself as I am and step courageously outward to something greater, will stay at my fingertips! Collin's personal story of deep transformation inspires me to revere my own journey and purpose. Her practical and thorough guidance for walking, Leave No Trace, getting ready, and creating a 40-day walking practice give me reference material to peruse and review when I am ready for each new chapter in my walking. Inspirational quotes, intriguing graphics, and Collin's own deepening free verse invite me to pick up Wildwood Magic often for a nourishing pick-me-up of beautiful language and design. I will use this book for my own ForgivenessWalks clients! Now, it's time for a walk!

Too bad the title “Practical Magic” was already taken! 🙂 This book is an empowering read, full of inspiring ideas on how to find a deeper connection with the self through walking. And the practical part is fantastic, including tips on what to pack on day hikes and even different ways to tie your hiking boots to help with foot issues. Collin has a way of making things approachable and enjoyable. Love it.

As a novice hiker, I really appreciate how Collin breaks down everything chapter by chapter. From what to bring, to what to wear and what to expect. I followed her blog of when she last hiked the AT and was captivated by her writing . I felt like I was on an adventure with her. This book is no different! I find it difficult to disconnect from the day to day and really appreciate being able to disconnect and learn more about myself thought walking. The pandemic had made self care hard but knowing I can walk out of my house and practice self care with a walk and a bit of guidance from this book is everything! Can’t recommend it enough!

Collin does a very nice job of providing insight thru her experiences. She takes a simple task such as walking, shows its importance and then guides the reader on how to become efficient and productive not only physically but spiritually as a walker.

After reading this book I am now looking forward to my walks without stuffing headphones in my ears and closing myself off from the world. Walking trails and enjoying the sounds and smells and animals has opened my mind and made me feel a whole lot more free. My mind is now wide open and connected to the world around me. A great book obviously written with expertise and love. Chambers walks the walk!!!!

Collin's book was a perfect pairing of magic and practicality! Her beautifully bright spirit shines through as she encourages us to tap into that sense wonder that can be found when we shift our perspective from mundane to magic. I found her tips about preparedness and safety extremely valuable! I'm looking forward to the Backpacking as a Sacred Practice book and upcoming retreat! What a blessing to have found someone to share all her nuggets of wisdom from her travels, experience, and trainings!! Thank You Collin!!

Collin has written this book with passion and authenticity. Her personal story is relatable in so many ways. In Wild Wood Magic, she presents her case with real-life outcomes and offers practical advice for professional to soon-to-be walkers and from a neighborhood stroll to intense, life-changing treks. I enjoyed her writing style - it’s like having a conversation with a good friend. Her energy is contagious and her case for walking (and exploring, and listening to your heart, and laughing) will motivate even the most reluctant.

Collin’s love of the natural world and being enveloped in the mystery herself helps inspire the reader to open to all the wonder of Walking as a Sacred Practice . Why who knew walking could provide so much joy ?! The book not only gives practical advice so that most anyone can join in the fun but it also motivates one to become lighter , more centered , more aware . A true treasure from this most adventurous of spirits !

Much like Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, this book has depth beyond the simple idea of walking...the author explores the depths of the spiritual healing powers of walking, while combining solid advice and practical tips to successfully be able to take on longer, deeper walks...from the casual walker, to those seeking better health and connections to nature, this book is a keeper, and belongs on the shelf of any walker.

This book was amazing!!! I had the pleasure of working with Collin a year ago and she taught me soooo much!!!! I don’t always take the best notes so having so much of her teachings written in a book is awesome!
I appreciated her sharing her personal story as well as sharing her sacred path.
I could say so much but I’ll end with, Just Buy This Book....you won’t regret it!

Collin knows what she writes about. She has been walking for years now and using it to come back to herself, she has used it as medicine to lose weight, she has used it to connect with nature and others around her. She is an inspiring woman who has found the simplest way to spread teachings and joy, through her own two feet in motion. Love the book!

The author's sincerity and enthusiasm leaps off the page and feels infectious--motivating me to want to strike out on my own invigorating walk. This book is ideal for anyone looking to find a sustainable practice for losing weight, self care and becoming more healthy. You can't find a better cheerleader than Collin to begin this new chapter in life.

Chambers has written a most eloquent book on the simplest of subjects... Walking, and revealed the many joys to be found within and around every corner.
